It is a shock hearing of Chip's passing. Growing up in Franklin, our families were close friends. The many Christmas dinners with the Kingerys & several other families remain among my most special memories from childhood. Chip has always been special. The world has been a better place because Chip was in it

Chip was someone who always had a smile on his face. The love and joy he shared has touched many lives, including our own. He was a man of God and loved to serve with humility and joy.
We are grateful to the Lord that we had the privilege of having him in our lives.
Jean, you have always been a support to Chip and to all of us. We pray that you will rely on the Lord for strength and courage during this time.
We are praying for you and the family during this time.
Be at rest knowing that Chip is with our Heavenly Father.
Lots of love and prayers,

I met Chip back in the mid/late-70s while at the Baptist conference center in Ridgecrest, NC. (I attended Hollins University--then Hollins College--and was with a Baptist student union group from Roanoke.) He was funny and charming, and could sing SO beautifully! He was a pleasure to know, and it didn't hurt that he was also rather 'easy on the eyes'! Tonight, I was moved to look him up via the internet, and learned of his passing. I am indeed sorry for your loss. I know his early homegoing has left a great hole in your lives. I will continue to remember him fondly and count myself fortunate to have shared that week of college craziness with him so long ago. God's peace and grace to you all.

Chip, with whom I share the formal name of Charles, has traveled with me through life in ways that are mostly invisible. Though we haven't been together lots of times in person, through mutual Kingery cousins (by marriage) I've followed his important work over the decades and have been inspired by him.
When I have seen Chip in person on occasion at the Kingery gatherings in Franklin County, Virginia, there has been a recognition and strong respect between us that I have valued and long remember. I value Chip most because he lived a life of dedication to others. He has followed his heart. He has made a difference in the lives of human beings.
Chip, as the Bible says, has run a good race. I am so sorry he was taken so young, but I take some comfort in the fact that the years he had counted for so much good that his life and work will continue to reverberate in seen and unseen ways forever. For that we are deeply grateful. I for one will carry the inspiration he has given me from afar for the rest of my days.
Love,
Charlie (along with his wife, Hope)

Dear Jean and Family,
While we have not met, I was fortunate enough to know Chip at the University of Richmond and sang with him in a small group with several other friends. He was a delightful individual, as evidenced by his full life and loving family. I have fond memories of him and hope that the wonderful memories you and your family have built over the years will comfort you during this difficult time. Please accept my prayers and condolences. Our loss is God’s gain...Chip is truly at peace with the one whom he served for so many years.

This pic' of the Joe's Crab Shack steampot is a tribute to Chip's zest for life. The first time we were to meet I asked him what meal would be a real treat for the non-profit man visiting his homeland from the Third World where he lived. Crabs!, they became our celebratory respite when we would catch up. So much so he called me, among many other things, his crabby pastor friend. Ha!

Sahib Chaz (or any number of other titles and names I called him) became knitted to my heart in very short order. I've just reviewed a number of our email threads over the last six years and felt anew his authentic God-like heart--that wonderful mixture of vibrancy for the fullness of this life and yet a disarming realism re: life's current struggles; a deep and clear passion for what matters most and yet a quirky humor that created playful and light-hearted moments; and of course his tenacious effort to improve and expand his vocation (work/ministry/mission). Who wouldn't want to be around that? Praise the Lord, Father, Son and Spirit, who is eternally committed to bring us true, abundant life that joyously wells up into a forever relationship with Him!
"Thank you, Lord, for Saint Chip. Thru him You drew us closer to Yourself and we are grateful. Amen."

We are so heartbroken when we heard about Chip's failing health and his subsequent passing a few days ago. He was a big man with a big heart and we miss him so much. He
touched the lives of so many people and his legacy continues to this day. He has been a faithful servant and worked tirelessly at proVision Asia and at BICF. He is in a
better place now, without pain and suffering and we rejoice that this is not the end and we will
meet again in heaven one day.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."

Although we are grieving the loss of Chip, our dear friend and Brother in Christ, the memory we have about his life of service, his joy in any and every circumstances and his ability to always see the good in people especially in the young adults will remain alive in us.
Through his ministry in BICF, Chip has inspired us to also start an international church in Pattaya, Thailand.
We will greatly miss him but know that he is in good hands now with our Father in heaven.
Until we meet him again, we will continue to be the prayer warriors alongside Jean.

My family and I will always be grateful for the joy and privilege of having known Chip and the Kingery family. There are many words that could be used to describe Chip, cheerful, energetic, kind, creative, brilliant.... but for me, the characteristic that stood out most was his life of service. Whether at Provision Asia or at BICF or any other place, he and Jean were constantly ministering to others. It was always good to be around him. His joy in living was infectious! We feel a deep sadness at his passing but know that all is well with him in the presence of Jesus whom he loved so much.

What a wonderful friend I had in Chip! We harmonized together on the worship team at Centerpoint Church and, most memorable, we were frequently cast as a bumbling couple while acting with Vision Players. Chip’s bright smile always preceded him and his kind and usually hilarious words left us holding our sides.
Chip’s love for Jesus oozed from his pores. His love for the “differently able” sparked a fire to serve them and tell them of Jesus’ love, the world over.
His love for his beloved wife Jean was tender for all to see; and for his children and granddaughters, well, they were the apple of his eye.
Chip leaves a massive hole in our hearts. But we will not grieve forever ~ we will join him in Glory some day.
Forever in Jesus,
Kristie

Charles Fisher Kingery, Jr..., aka, Chip. There were so many layers to this wonderful man...
There was Chip, the fully-committed Christian who found such joy in helping the less fortunate and sharing his love of the Lord...
There was Chip, the international traveler who could always adjust to the people and any situations in whatever country he traveled...
There was Chip, the consummate minister and teacher with his incredible knowledge of God's Word, knowing where to find just the right passage in time of need or pain...
There was Chip, the ultimate philosopher who would often debate to raise awareness and to make you think differently...
There was Chip, the entertainer who, especially when joined with his wife, would sing so beautifully that it would bring tears...
There was Chip, the brother and brother-in-law who would always be there for you when you needed him...
There was Chip, the family man, whose love, support and pride for his daughters, son, son-in-law, and granddaughters knew no bounds...
And then there was Chip, the husband, who found the perfect union with his amazing wife and lived an incredible life full of worldly experiences, friends, joy, and love...
What a life well-lived. We praise God for his life and the years we had him in our lives, and we know he is singing with the Angels now and that we will see him again when we join him in Heaven.
With His love,
Marion
