Jimmy was like a brother to me for a number of years....we worked really well together, which was one of Jimmy's strongest qualities....mixed with a sense of humor second to none. He was a visionary who always turned the ordinary into the extraordinary...accompanied by lots laughs and love. I don't know why this news took so long to find me. I blame myself for letting time and distance diminish our closeness.
Jimmy had stories you wouldn't believe, but he told them with such exuberance and passion that you felt you had to believe them. A great storyteller. Of course, that helps when you have to tell a story in 30 seconds.
And although you can't tell by looking at the memory book here....you are missed by many my friend. See you on the other side Jed Wards. Doodle-loop.

Jimmy directed and edited ten television commercials I created as an advertising writer at three different agencies in New York and Detroit. Working with Jim was like a day at a carnival—lots of laughs, hugs,, color and sparkle. Jim’s passion and dedication turned good advertising into great advertising, a result supported by industry awards and client accolades. He was a shining light in a business that can be a dark place. Rest in Peace, pal.

I spent a great deal of time at Ace and Edie Editorial Company in Los Angeles throughout my career as an Advertising TV Producer. Jim was an amazing editor, excellent with music, brought new, fresh ideas to the TV Commercials that we worked on together. He had a way of taking footage & adding his magic touch to create an even better TV Spot than we had anticipted. I wish I could be at the Service today, but I just had eye surgery and cannot fly.
I was so impressed with Edie's knowledge of the business and the hours we spent together doing budgets and scheduling. She and Jim both became friends to me. I remember their house in Laurel Canyon with 2 toddlers, Edie and Adam and some great meals together. I did not know his younger children Ethan, James and Maya. He and I were in touch for several years and he would tell me all about what his 5 kids were doing & what he was working on professionally. We also talked about our Faith in God. I was so glad to hear about his involvement in Grace Church.
His big smile, great laugh, personality and generous heart will be missed.
I learned a lot from him and Edie.
Sending love and prayers to all.
