Mary Lou Zents (Oct. 1,1930 - June 7, 2011) It was Tuesday the 7th of June 2011, that Mary Lou Zents left us to be with our Lord and Savior. She lived life with joy and faith 'til the age of 80 years. She was married to her loving husband, Donald E Zents more than 50 years until his passing in December of 2002. Mary Lou was born in October of 1930, to Robert and Mini Bell King. Raised on a 200 acre farm in a two story log house, in rural Noble County, Ohio. She and her nine brothers and sisters worked and enjoyed the wonderful country life. Mary experience a joyful youth and attended Summerfield High School graduating with her class. At a summer church retreat, she met her future husband, Don of Mansfield, Ohio, marring shortly after graduation. Don and MaryLou loved Square Dancing. Don called Square Dances professionally and MaryLou traveled with him and love to hear his singing. After moving from Mansfield to Lima, Ohio, they decided to adopt a child. It was a boy! They named him, Shawn. All though they loved Ohio, a long time friend told them of the beauty and friendliness of California. They were SOLD! So, Mary, Don and Shawn moved to Simi Valley in '68 and finally to Ventura in the mid 70's. Mary Lou loved Ventura for its mild winters and cool summers. They had found their paradise. Mary and Don loved to follow all of their son's sporting events. Never missing a game, from youth football, basketball, and baseball to high school and college football. She was always there for support and an ice bag. Mary Lou loved the Dodgers, watching the Food Network, cooking and of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her Thanksgiving meals were legendary; not to mention, her carrot cake, chocolate cake and Sherri Wine cake, to die for. Among her favorite things was her beautiful rose garden, her cat "Tiger" and her beloved dog "Cindy". For her professional life, she worked at Westinghouse, IBM, Ventura Co. Animal Control, and then finally spend 20+ years at Ventura Co. Assessor's office as data entry clerk. Mary Lou is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Kimberly. As well as her loving brothers and sisters and countless friends. She was a special lady who will be sadly missed but not forgotten. Services celebrating Mary's life will begin at 11:00am, Friday the 10th of June at Rose Family Funeral Home and Cremation, burial to follow.
