Alexander Sherman of Thousand Oaks, California passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 11, 2013.
He was born in Glady Hollow, Renoldsville, West Virginia on Novemeber 11, 1919. He enjoyed growing up in the mountains of West Virginia and had many tales to tell of growing up there. He worked in the coal mines before joining the Army in WWII. He became a medic in the Army. He moved to Toledo, Ohio after the war. He met Gloria Harman at church in Toledo and they married on September 3, 1949. They had 3 children while living in Ohio.
He moved his family to Thousand Oaks, California in 1968 (Thousand Oaks resident for 45 years). Started his own business, World Laboratories in 1970 making cleaning products. He remained working until he retired in 2003.
Alexander loved to be with his family, visit friends and customers, going fishing, enjoyed the outdoors, going to church, tell stories, sing hillbilly songs, and loved to tease people.
He is survived by his wife Gloria of 63 years, two sisters Helen Ellison and Fimmie Sherman of Saticoy, Ca, daughter Ann Jones of Tujunga, Ca and her daughters Sabrina of Oregon and Kara of Hawaii, son Wesley of San Diego, Ca, and son Arthur and Daughter-in-law Jennifer and their sons Nicholas and Connor of Simi Valley, CA.
We will be honoring his life on Friday, August 23rd at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, Ca at 11:00 where he will be laid to rest.
