Obituary of Phillip Edward Freyder
Phillip Edward Freyder, 83, of Simi Valley, California passed away on July 25, 2023 surrounded by family. Until his death, he was still living independently in Simi Valley, California.
Born in Gillette, Wyoming, to James and Lura, Ed was the youngest of 4 children. When Ed was only 4 yrs old the family moved to Southern California. In 1957 Ed joined the Navy and traveled around the world docking in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Guam and Midway, just to name a few, while serving on the USS Hollister. After his years of service, Ed and his brother Jack were owners of one of the largest garage door companies in SoCal for almost 40 years. One of his most cherished memories was his annual horseback trips to the Sierra Nevada mountains - where he lovingly referred to as “the high country”.
He spent his retirement years enjoying the outdoors. Whether it was camping, fishing, or riding his bike all over Simi Valley, you would always see him out and about.
He is predeceased by his father James Freyder, mother Lura Dooley, sister Francis Moore, brother James Freyder. He is survived by his older brother John Allen, his daughter Deborah, her husband Tim and two grandchildren Katie and Zachary, and his son Todd, his wife Pam with two grandchildren Bradley and Sarah.
He will forever be missed and loved…
