My sincerest condolences to Bob's family and friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I met Bob on my first business trip to Simi Valley as an IBMer. I was deeply impressed with Bob as the "IT whiz" he was, his leadership style, and the genuinely kind person he was. Like Isabelle, we spent many long days/weeks together in Rochester MN. It was a pleasure to know and work with Bob. May he rest in peace.

Bob and I first met when he was a Customer Engineer and I a System Engineer at IBM. I quickly realized that although Bob was one of the youngest CE’s, he was also one of the best, so I would constantly rely on him during those IBM days.
Once retired from IBM I took a job at Countrywide Home Loans. A few years later our paths crossed again when Bob accepted an executive position there. I actually got to know him much better during this time. He would often make me a temporary member of his team for trips to the IBM plant in Rochester, MN. We all could thank Bob for our introduction to the latest and greatest that IBM had to offer.
Finally, Bob was just a wonderful guy. In addition to being super smart, inspiring, funny, resourceful and any number of other adjectives I could share, Bob was a super nice person. My sincere condolences to Doris, the kids and grandkids. He will truly be missed.

Condolence to the Membrila family. Bob was my manager for 20 years, my mentor and most of all, a true friend. I just did not learn from him technical/managerial skills but how to be a good father/husband and most important to be a good person with respect. We will miss you Bob, Rest in Peace my friend!

I was so saddened to learn about Bob's illness and passing from my husband, Bill, who kept in touch with Doris since he had them insured.
I spent a lot of time with Bob when he was at Countrywide, and I was their AS/400 Technical Sales Specialist. I was out in Simi about once a week for meetings. In fact, I remember being in Bob's office when the OJ Simpson car chase was happening!
We also spent a lot of time together in Rochester, MN, the home of the AS/400. Bob once said he and I "had kids together" because I was pregnant with my son at the same time Doris was pregnant with Joseph, and also my daughter and Victoria. We were in Rochester when Bob got a call from Doris that her mucus plug came out. I wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but I told Bob that he better get on the next flight back home!
Bob was such a nice guy (he told me that I didn't have to dye my hair when the grey roots were showing because I was beautiful as is) and a great customer, but could be very tough to get his point across. When Countrywide was having failures with their 9337 disk drives, Bob said he was getting on the next plane to Rochester and was going to tell them exactly where they could "shove them".
Bob was also a great manager and took care of his people at Countrywide. He protected them from the politics above and made it a great place to work.
He was a great man and will surely be missed!

What a loss. Bob you will be missed. Always smiling, welcoming, willing to listen and help, team player and the list goes on and on. Cannot even imagine that you were going through so much of physical pain and yet you were there with that welcoming attitude. Rest in peace, wherever you are.

Bob was a well-respected leader and mentor to many of us who worked for him on the AS400/iSeries platform. He gave us career opportunities and helped us grow both personally and professionally. Bob will be remembered as a strong and kind person who had a big heart. My condolences to the Membrila family.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Bob, who was not only my boss but also a mentor and friend during over twenty years together at Countrywide Home Loans. An ex-IBMer, he had exceptional technical expertise and management skills, particularly in IBM System 38, AS/400, and IBM i. His guidance and knowledge greatly shaped my career and many others. His legacy of dedication and excellence will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

I’m very sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. He was a great guy that I really enjoyed working with. That’s not to say that we didn’t have disagreements because we did! But we always work through them and did the right thing one of my favorite stories from long ago, which I continue to tell, Is Bob describing a trip to the vets office when his daughters cat was injured by a coyote. He said “Dr. I need you to be upfront with me about the condition. The cat is in. I don’t want to do a lot of heroic efforts if it’s going to be terminal anyway the doctor then said there’s a lot that we can do. We can run this test. We can run that test and Bob stopped him and said “ let me be clear if it’s gonna cost more than $25 it’s terminal because I can go get another cat that looks just like it for $25!” Still one of the funniest stories I’ve heard!

Bob and I met as referees with AYSO along time ago and have been friends since. Bob definitely fought the "good fight" in his battle with cancer. His primary concern during his battle was always that Doris would be taken care of, and he relentlessly worked to make sure that happened. I will miss Bob, he was a terrific friend!

I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I met Robert (Bob) and his wife Doris at the Simi dog park, and of course his best friend Lola. I can't remember ever meeting someone that you just liked right off the bat. Bob and I became very good friends in the last 8 yrs years. I have been involved in the Martial Arts for years. I asked Bob one day if he would like to join our classes to learn the martial arts, and of course he jumped at it. I have been teaching for over 50 years, a long with Grand Master Mike Kwasigroch out of all the students we had over years he picked up all the techniques in a very short time. He was always the first to jump in when we needed someone to demonstrate on. He is going to missed by all that knew him, but will never be forgotten . I'll see you again, my friend. Love you, Denny.
