Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James “Jim” M. Henry, Jr., 69, of Thousand Oaks passed away at Westlake Healthcare Center after a year and a half of a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was a long time resident of Thousand Oaks. Jim was born in Wala Wala, Washington to Major James McConnell Henry, Sr. and Marjorie Ann Jenkins Henry. During his early years he lived in several locations in and outside of the United States, as his dad was in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Georgia located just outside of Stone Mountain, Georgia. Upon graduating, his first job was in New York City working for WABC as a jack-of-all-trades. From there he joined the U.S. Army where he spent most of his time serving in Germany as a military police officer. After leaving the Army he moved to Southern California, where he lived for the rest of his life. He absolutely loved California! He retired from Vons Grocery Store in 2007 after 30 years. He then went on to work for his sister and her husband at Road Safety International until their business was sold in 2010. At that point, he retired for good and spent as much time as he could enjoying his lifelong passion, golf, as well as his diverse taste of sports, film and music. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Henry. Jim is survived by his sister, Sandi Selditz and his nephew, Geoff Selditz. Jim will be missed by his family and friends, but they have peace in knowing that all of his pain and suffering is over and that he can now truly rest! His life will be celebrated at a later date.
