Obituary of Benjamin Palacios Moyeda
Please share a memory of Benjamin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
He was 97-1/2 years young, his strength in the gospel will always be a constant reminder of his faith in Jesus Christ. He is now free from the bonds of his earthly body. He started working as a youth selling papers on the street to help support his mother and sisters in the absence of a father. He worked over 80 years, many of that at two jobs working over 12 hour a day for decades. He was full of life and loved serving. He was an LDS Branch President, and a temple worker, he volunteered at the LDS welfare farms and food storage warehouses for several years. He never graduated from high school, yet he achieved several PHD's in the school of life. He volunteered for the Army to serve our country and become a citizen in time of war. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Spanish speaking mission in the Gallup, New Mexico Area and afterwards served for several years as a genealogist. He sang, played the harmonica, maracas, danced, dove, hiked, even did somersaults in his 80's, played all kinds of card games, board games, dominos, marbles, and read voraciously. It is almost impossible to paint a true picture of him in a few words. He married later in life yet he lived to see over 50 years of marriage to a noble and saintly woman, Mary Villanueva who preceded him in death. He had five children and many grand and great grandchildren. He passed from this life, but his legacy will remain. We will miss hearing all the stories he told about when he was growing up and his infectious laugh. But, we rejoice in the knowledge of the plan of salvation and knowing that someday we will see him again. He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses: Son-Tony Moyeda (Peggy)
Daughters-Marietta (Charles Sperry), Teresa (Don Rizzo), & Julie (Steven Lueck),
Grandchildren: Shamene (Medeiros), Emily (Mitchell), Wendy (Cox), Katy (Mitchell), Chelsea (Donaldson), Caren (Moore), Anna (Young), David Sperry, Stephanie Sperry, Robert Sperry, Randen Rizzo, Spencer Lueck, Hunter Lueck, and Tanner Lueck, &
Great Grandchildren: Dylan Medeiros, Marie Mitchell, Summer Mitchell, Timothy Cox, Benjamin Cox, Ruby Cox, Chloe Mitchell, Blain Mitchell, & Avonlea Mitchell.
