Obituary of Brenda Sue Hansen (Conner)

On Thanksgiving Day, 27 November 2014, at 3:55pm, Brenda Sue Conner Hansen met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at heaven’s door, after suffering several weeks with advanced uterine cancer. Brenda is dearly loved by hundreds of family & friends all over the country, and was married to Douglas J. Hansen nearly 10 years. They lived in Simi Valley, CA near Brenda’s Father, Alva L. Conner, owner of Far Western Realty Co. Brenda’s Father & Mother –in-law are Hawk & Cary Hansen of Thousand Oaks, CA, and they loved her just like she was their own daughter. Brenda was born June 23, 1966 in Galion, Ohio to Pastor Alva L. Conner & Janice Weber Conner. Brenda’s family relocated to Santa Maria, CA in 1967, where she grew up attending Valley Christian Academy through junior high. Her family moved to Simi Valley in 1978, where she was active in her youth group at Grace Brethren Church, and attended high school there as well. Brenda attended Grace College in Winona Lake, IN for two years, where she made many friends and enjoyed being on campus with her sister, Anita. After several years of struggles in younger years, Brenda had this year achieved her 20 year pin for maintaining her sobriety with her strong commitment & hard work... something she was immensely proud of, and which her family tremendously respected her for. Brenda’s life struggles made her a compassionate, sympathetic supporter of other addicts, the homeless, and hurting people God placed in her path. Her love for the Lord Jesus as her Savior was the driving force in her life, and Brenda had complete assurance of where she would spend eternity at the time of her death. In the years Brenda and Doug were married, they were active first at Rocky Peak Church in Chatsworth, CA, and in recent years they included worshiping at New Heart Foursquare Church in Simi Valley, CA. They surrounded themselves with godly, mature believers who invested much time, resources, & love into their marriage as well as Brenda & Doug as individuals. Brenda’s infectious, happy smile & spirit will be greatly missed among the many friends & family she leaves behind. Brenda is survived by her husband, Doug Hansen, her Father, Alva L. Conner, her sister, Anita Conner, her sister, Melody Bumanglag-Fausel, her in-laws, Hawk & Cary Hansen, eight nieces & nephews through her two sisters, and numerous other extended family members from around the country. Brenda’s precious Mother, Janice Conner Lewis, proceeded her in death on 5 November 2012, an event that left Brenda changed like nothing else. Memorial service for Brenda will be 7:00 P.M.
