Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth (Ken) William Gram Jensen passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 8:01 a.m. at his home in Simi Valley Ca. after a short battle with lung cancer. His wife of 44 years, Elva Mae Jensen and his daughters were by his side.
Born on July 10, 1941 in New Britain, Connecticut, Kenneth was the third child of the late William and Vera (Whittle) Jensen and brother of Vera Benson of Texas, and June Kellert of Connecticut. Ken graduated from New Britain High School in 1959.
Immediately following high school Ken joined the U.S. Navy and actively served for four years and spent two years as a reservist before he was honorably discharged in 1965. His time served was a very special and memorable part of his life, which he shared many wonderful stories with his family throughout the years.
Kenneth then spent the next 33 years of his life working for United Parcel Service. Starting out as a feeder driver and proudly retiring in 1995 as a Southern Regional Hub and Feeder Manager. During his years spent climbing the corporate ladder he had many titles and received many awards for his excellence. He was very devoted to his job and the company. His wife even playfully teased, that he had “brown blood”. We are all extremely proud of him and his many successes.
One of Ken’s favorite places in the world was their lake home on Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos, PA. He had many wonderful years there enjoying his family, boating, and fishing and also some truly great friends that were made along the way. Many happy memories were made there and will live on in our hearts forever.
Kenneth was a member of the Mason’s Lodge #20 of Connecticut. He also had a love for spending time with family, reading, playing pool and cards and collecting and refinishing antiques. He shared the passion for antiques with his wife where they went to many auctions and shows in many states throughout the years.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Kenneth is survived by his children Lisa Aliano and her husband John and two daughters Falynn and Madisen, of California. Joseph Jensen and his wife Sonya and son Nicholas and wife Molly, of Virginia. Tanya Graff and her husband Robert and two sons Chad and Mason, of Connecticut. Shawn Jensen and his wife Michele and two sons Jacob and Evan, of Tennessee.
He is also survived by his three sons Kenneth, Jeffrey and Craig Jensen and their families, of Connecticut. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in his honor at the discretion of his family.
We will forever cherish and miss his witty charm and famous last words “I am excellent, outstanding, and even better than that”.
