Obituary of Dorothy Ann Halpin

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy “Dottie” Halpin passed away on March 4th, 2015 with her loved ones by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Dottie was born in East Boston to her parents Dorothy and Fredrick Lindstrom. She was married to her husband Francis Halpin for 28 years before his passing in 1989. Dottie was an original owner in First Neighborhood in Westlake Village. Having been a founding member of North Ranch Country Club, you could always find her on the golf course every Tuesday and Thursday. She was also known for her FLYNTGR license plate driving around Westlake. Dottie was an amazingly strong, loving and devoted woman; she signed up for the Marine Corps at 18 and served during the Korean War. There she met her husband and later had three children. Once a Marine always a Marine, she would always fly the Marine Corps flag outside her home. She and her husband moved to Westlake in 1967 and never left. They created a Mai Tai club with their neighbors and loved attending social events. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was going to a softball or baseball game, she was always there. After losing her three children, her two grandchildren; Brittany and Francis spent the last 8 years taking care of Dottie. She will be missed dearly. We love you! We will be honoring her life on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at 10am at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Following the service, internment will be at 11am at Pierce Brothers in Westlake. A reception will follow at the First Neighborhood Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
