Obituary of Theresa Koenig

KOENIG, Theresa (Carter) August 9, 1926 - November 8, 2011 After suffering a debilitating stroke over four years ago, Theresa Koenig passed away peacefully. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Richard; her six sons, Joe (Nancy), Dan (Judy), Tom (Kathleen), Bob, Bill (Debbie) & Steven; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to raising her family, which she often said was the joy of her life, Theresa was a tireless volunteer at the Catholic schools her children attended and the parishes to which she belonged. At St. Elisabeth's in Van Nuys she led the PTA as well as the SERV Center. She belonged to the Altar Society at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. After moving to Newbury Park in 1992, she became actively involved at Mary Health of the Sick's Thrift Store. After her stroke, she resided at Mary Health where she received the finest care imaginable. Funeral mass will be held at St Julie's Catholic Church in Newbury Park at 10:30 AM on Friday November 18 followed by a reception in the parish hall. Internment will occur that afternoon at Assumption Cemetery, Simi Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary Health of the Sick, 2929 Theresa Dr, Newbury Park 91320.
