E. Dean Seymour Eldward Dean Seymour passed away due to a stroke at the age of 88. He had been a resident of Simi Valley, CA since 1956. Dean was born on a farm near Apache, Oklahoma to Charlie and Jewel Seymour. This farmboy's day began with cows to milk and a ride to country school on horseback; after school there was cotton to pick, cows to milk again and cream to separate. A summer was spent mowing hay on the midnight-to-noon shift. High school graduation in 1940, at age 16, found him cultivating corn with a team of mules and breaking horses for the Cavalry. Then, off to California and a job with North American Aviation (Rockwell) at age 18. His six years in the Navy began during WWII, serving mostly in the Pacific. Returning to aviation as a machinist, he would stay with Rockwell over 42 years. His projects included the Redstone, the first rocket to take Americans into space. On the side, he was a real estate broker and sold properties in Simi Valley for 30 years. Dean remained a country boy who loved horses. He bred and broke them, and proudly rode his adopted wild BLM mustang in Simi Valley Days Parades. He was preceded in death by Josephine "Jo," his wife of nearly 63 years. He is survived by two daughters and three grandsons. A memorial Service will be held Wed., March 28 at 2:00PM at Rose Family Funeral Home Chapel.
