Obituary of Pauline Joy Nervig
Pauline Joy Nervig nee Jones, 85, of Simi Valley, CA, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Simi Valley.
Funeral Service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 4191 Cochran St, Simi Valley, CA on May 25th at 10 AM with Reverend Terry Rommereim officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery located at 22601 Lassen St. Chatsworth, CA. Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Pauline was born in Iowa to Paul and Josephine Jones on December 30, 1931. She graduated high school in Iowa and met and married Paul Nervig soon after on October 28, 1950. In 1952 she gave birth to daughter DeAnn. In 1956 Pauline and her young family moved from Iowa to California in search of steady employment, warm weather and sunshine. There she gave birth to her second child, Denis and stayed busy raising her family and running the household. In addition to raising her family, Pauline managed a small dress shop for 3 years, then worked in sales at Mervyn’s Department Store in Simi Valley for 18 years. Pauline enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crafting, sewing, cooking, camping and square dancing. She was a member of the A Square D club where she and her husband served as directors and board members and managed multiple national square dance conventions. She was a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church which then merged and became Shepherd of the Valley. Pauline enjoyed serving others at the Stillwater Cafe. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Paul Nervig of Simi Valley, a sister, Lola Erickson of Story City, IA, daughter DeAnn (Roger) Rommereim, son Denis (Lisa) Nervig, grandchildren Jennifer (Mike) Lewis, Andrew (Sandra) Rommereim, Madison and Lucas Nervig, great grandchildren, Arianna, Kailey and Caprica Lewis, Austyn, Logan and Collin Rommereim and many beloved nieces and nephews.. She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Josephine, brothers, John, Bill, and Jack.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherd of the Valley to benefit outreach programs for the homeless.
