Dean was a hard working family man; he had so much joy talking about being a father and husband. A couple of months ago he was excited that I was starting a family and shared with me that he remembers all the moments of all of his kids and just how special and meaningful his family is to him. He said that being a husband and father changed his life and he appreciates every moment he has with them. He gave me confidence about marriage and parenthood and showed me how joyful it can be.

Dean was a well liked and highly respected supplier to the company I worked at in mid 2000's. He always had a very positive outlook, told great stories, and frequently spoke of his family. My deepest condolences to his wife, children, and family.

I started working with Dean ~ 5 years ago. I didn’t get to meet him and really start working closely with him until at the IMS trade show in Seattle in 2013. I remember the meeting when he was convincing me and my close associate Danielle that we should partner up with him and his company on a big potential opportunity. Our industry is normally filled with a bunch of nerdy, middle aged engineering type dorks…and in strolls Dean to this meeting. Tan, bright blond hair, white teeth and cowboy boots. I’m thinking hmmm ok?
As soon as Dean started talking, it was clear he knew what he was talking about and that he had a passion to do things the right way. From that point on Dean, Danielle and I began working closely and a strong business partnership- and more importantly- friendship began. Dean became “Hollywood” at that meeting, and the nickname stuck with us throughout the years. After a few beers, usually between me and another friend of ours Andy, we would usually drop an “Ice Man” for his resemblance to Val Kilmer in Top Gun.
Our business grew and we eventually reached a point where we spoke on average every other day, and traveled together a number of times. One of the first times we brought Dean on a barnstorming tour of upstate NY to meet our key customers, we had some very good meetings at Harris RF. The guys there had never seen a sales guy roll into town with cowboy boots, but they all would leave the meeting thinking what a good guy he was. One of our key contacts named John says to Danielle and I in a meeting one morning: “I called Crocodile Dundee and he helped me out with some product ideas.” I hadn’t had all my coffee yet, so I said “Crocodile Dundee?” And John said “yeah, the cap guy Dean. He was awesome on the phone.” The three of us broke into a 5 minute belly laugh at this point, which is not something commonly heard at a stiff military account like Harris.
That’s just the way Dean was to work with. He could make you laugh and be very unassuming with his laidback exterior. But when you needed some help, be it technical, or service related, or even at a strategic level on just about any topic- Dean always had advice. We were driving to Toronto one time and I was describing something screwed up in my SUV. Thanksgiving weekend , I get an email from Dean with the steps on how to fix my issue that had been annoying me since I bought the car. Dean just always had a way to fix things. It was a rare talent that he would tell you “how it is” from Dean’s perspective, and he wouldn’t sugar coat anything, but he had a way of when he did that he also didn’t offend or upset you. It was a special talent that really is in need more in today’s world.
I know that in the relatively short time that I was Dean’s friend that he made a lasting impression on me, so I can only imagine what he means to the friends and family closest to him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, and on this sad day I am choosing to remember that big smile and that there will never be another Hollywood in upstate NY.

If you had asked Dean a month ago if he knew my name, I am certain it would not have rung a bell. But I have never, and will never forget his. Dean was one of my first mentors in the automotive world, when I bought my first used Toyota Supra. Back in the 90's, you couldn't just find a bulletin board or a Facebook group for every conceivable hobby or interest you could imagine. He was smart, knowledgeable, and most important- he was kind & gracious with his time, happy to share his wisdom with others. If he was that magnanimous to complete strangers on an e-mail list, I can only imagine what a wonderful man he must have been for those closest to him. He is missed from far across the country & across the decades.

As a supplier to our company I remember Dean as always being upbeat and enjoying life. Like a lot of us guys, he liked fast cars; both driving them and making them fast. I pray God's comfort to his wife, children, and all the family.

My deepest condolences to family. I knew Dean many years ago when we both as HSEP before he left to go to a different high school. It was great seeing him again at our reunion last year. I have no words to describe how shocked and sad at his passing. I'm very sorry for the family's loss.

I remember such a cute little boy that would run and play;then missed you when your family moved to California.
When later reconnected, I was happy to see a very handsome and caring young man who turned out to be very intelligent and caring person who loved his family so much.
With deepest and sincere condolences to your family. Love and miss you already....Debbie & Roy Noski
