Obituary of Pokima Nicole Holmes
Pokima Nicole Holmes "Kima" passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017, in her home at the age of 42.
Born in Akron, Ohio to Jerry and Rhonda Holmes on October 23, 1974, the youngest of three children. She attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from John R. Buchtel in 1993. Attended Morris Brown College, Atlanta, GA.
Kima and her daughter Kimiyo packed their bags and moved to California in 1996, to join her Aunt and sister. She began her career in the medical field and quickly became interested in Well Being. She held assistant and coordinator positions with BPSC Solutions Skin Care of Beverly Hills and Cedar Sinai Hospital Cancer Center. Kima has always harvested an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to have her own business. She attended Massage School of Santa Monica, North Hollywood, CA to study Anatomy and Massage Theory and earned her CMT and LMT. After becoming certified and licensed, she opened Medio Mundi LLC, and became an established MT. She acquired an impressive list of clientele. She was a true professional, and was always highly recommended.
A single mother she thoroughly enjoyed raising her daughter whom she adored. Pokima lovingly guided every detail of her formative years. She was full of wit and mother's wisdom. Firm and lenient in good and equal measure she was a facilitator of Kimiyo's dreams. She loved to sing. We loved to hear her sing. She played piano, made jewelry, recited Shakespeare, and loved the beach with a capital "L". She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was kind, loving, and strong. She always stopped to give something to anyone that was homeless. If she did not have money to give them she gave them something they could use. Her kindness met people where they were. She always shared whatever she had. She had the gift of making friends. She had love and she shared it. She met Dwain. We are all richer for the love she shared. If she ever misplaced anything she asked Saint Anthony to please help her find it.
Pokima is survived by her beloved daughter, Kimiyo Bremer, fiance, Dwain Irvin, M.D., mother, Rhonda Holmes, sister, Elizabeth (Kevin) Holmes, brother, Kerry D. Holmes, nieces, A'zsha, and Aris, Meadow, and nephew, Kerry J.
